Fleet Week New York

Today kicks off Fleet Week in New York. This annual event brings thousands of Marines, National Guard and sailors to the Big Apple and celebrates the work they do at sea.

Fleet Week runs through May 28, 2008. Visitors can enjoy public tours of participating ships at the New York Cruise terminals. There will be a number of displays and demonstrations throughout the week as well as parades and other events.

Featured ships include a Coast Guard Cutter, USS Kearsarge, USS Nitze (DDG 94), USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55), USS The Sullivans (DDG 68), USS Monterey (CG 61) and three Canadian ships.
