The Brooklyn Bridge has been impressing people for 125 years now, and the famous landmark is hosting a huge celebration there today.

The Brooklyn Bridge first opened for travel on May 24th, 1883.

Brooklyn’s official historian, Ron Schweiger, says we can’t underestimate the bridge.

“It’s an icon for not only New York, but for America,”
said Schweiger.
